DAVID RODIGAN is the Don
I hope you know of this heartical rasta man called David Rodigan. He is a selector of Jamaican music from time with a genuine love for that country. He also looks like your typical high school teacher. Watch as he destroys this dance against Poison Dart sound.

Riot Music!
This track is just blowing up my brain. The vocal sounds so classic, especially “I’m comin!”. I swear that is a sample used in old tracks.
Out now on Digital Soundboy.
SHY FX mix (watch out for the bass drop):

Pressure Drop Radio – November 26, 2009
This recording starts off with a part of the last episode of Conscious Beats on 100.3 SoundFM. DJ RAPH has been running this show for the last 5 years, playing Rap, Afrobeat, Dubstep, Reggae and the like. Always wicked flow and selection. We applaud Raph for his talent and dedication.
This was really the final Pressure Drop as well since next week will be a soundclash of all the Hip Hop Thursday shows. I threw down a retrospective combination of all things Pressure Drop, as much as I could fit in. It’s impossible to capture all the sounds coming out of this show from last 11 years, but this session contains cuts spanning from way back to the present and a few from the future. Thanks to all who tuned in over the years and all who participated in making the show fresh. Word is that SoundFM will continue in a new space come 2010. Regardless of what happens, Pressure Drop will move fwd.

Pressure Drop Radio – November 19, 2009
It’s yours! SoundFM has been serving the University of Waterloo campus for over 30 years. Pressure Drop started when I was a student in my second year at UW. It’s now clear cut that the students of UW do not want a radio station. This decision represents a huge lack of concern by UW students for the general community of Waterloo. The standard argument from nay sayers is that students don’t listen to FM, they listen to online streaming radio. That may be true, but the fact is that radio is free since receivers are cheap and abundant and internet is not. Radio can be heard by all, whereas internet radio cannot. Once again the poorer class gets hosed and the majority of UW students say they will not give $5 a year to help out. The University of Waterloo is now more of an island than ever before. The only student voices that Waterloo will now hear are the drunken ones.

Pressure Drop Radio – October 28, 2009
Jacky Murda is the mastermind behind the cutting edge Jungle company Chopstick Dubplate. Not only a label, but also a mastering and cutting house, recording studio, and production team. Jacky runs Chopstick with his partners Kion and Tuffest (Survival NYC). This outfit is responsible for recording many essential dancehall artists and making some of the best ragga jungle around. Others have tried, but no one approaches the calibre of dancehall + techno fusion (that is ragga jungle) that Chopstick have. But recording thier own artists, and paying them, is just one thing that sets Chopstick appart. In this Pressure Drop, I play part 1 of an interview I conducted with the man himself, after his appearance in Toronto for the High Grade 3 Year Anniversary.

The podcast has gained a huge following all across the globe with people pouring out support for this worthy cause. If you want to know who’s making Drum and Bass in Canada, KAPULET is your professor. For all the aspiring producers out there, link KAPULET.
For the second hour of the show, KAPULET dropped a heavy jungle selection of all Canadian material, mostly dubs. Bigup KAPULET and keep making us proud.

Pressure Drop Live – June 18, 2009

Warming you up with some fresh Dubstep for the first hour and dropping a few House tunes (yes House!) from Marco Del Horno’s new imprint Bullet Train Records. The second hour features KW selector DJ KAPITOL bringing a heap of classic moldy oldschool and ragga jungle. DJ KAPITOL is an underground champion in the KW scene, playing just about everyone’s events and running many successful jams alongside Jamie Learn (REBEL BASS & LEARN MEDIA).
Check photos from the show here.
This podcast also contains the first hour of Street Hop hosted by DJ CARMELO. That`s sick because the first hour is the local hour, jam packed with KW`s finest MC`s.

Pressure Drop Live – January 8 2009
It’s 2009 and Pressure Drop has been on the air for 10 years now!
In the winter of 1999 two UW Physics students, Hugh Merz and Nat Persaud, started a radio show called Pressure Drop on CKMS 100.3 FM. Using the Toots and the Maytals’ classic tune as their intro song, the show was an ecclectic mix of jungle, house, rap, reggae, and punk rock. Time slots and dj lineups changed over the years and the music was distilled down to it’s potent essentials: the drum and the bass. Even with this focus, the show has always maintained diversity in the music through the uniqueness of each selector, a concept that Hughagi summarized as “you be you”. Or, as Bucky liked to state, “every flavour catering to the raver.”
So big big respect and thanks to anyone who has tuned into the show over the years and caught the vibe. Also to every DJ that has participated: Hughagi, Scoobs, Shaft, C-Bell, and all the guests.
This week’s show was a bunch of new dubstep and drum and bass as well as some classics.

Pressure Drop Live – October 30 2008
This marks a turning point for the Pressure Drop show. Hughagi, one of the two founding fathers of Pressure Drop, is moving, so he will no longer be making live appearances on the show. Nattyphysicist will be the primary selector from now on. This show features selections from nattyphysicist’s classic crates of dancehall and hip hop, as well as dubstep. Brand new cuts from dubstep and dnb were also thrown down.
CKMS needs your support! Please call 519-886-2567 or email pressurefeedback@hotmail.com to donate in the name of Presssure Drop. $5 will go along way in keeping the station alive. If you do not donate, the station will not last another half a year. Pressure Drop has been bringing the underground to your ear for almost 10 years on CKMS.

Interview with Breaks of Dawn – June 22 2008
Breaks of Dawn [Rude Gyal Entertainment] is a relatively new and very active rising star in the Canadian Drum and Bass scene, playing parties all across southern Ontario and on Protokol Radio. We know her for her choice selections from the entire DnB spectrum, garanteed to move you on the dancefloor. Pressure Drop had her in for an exclusive live to air mix that was totally bangin, followed by an interview. Due to my computer going into standby during the show, most of the mix was not recorded here, but the interview is intact. Check out what she has to say about the things she loves. Maximum respect to Dawn for coming out! Reach her on facebook.
